Well worth more than one visit especially the ceramics. Kaiser Chiefs curated exhibition - really only for fans I think but worth a quick walk through
Great gallery, definitely worth getting the pass to all three museums in York! A few activities for young children and my two love going. Always something different every time I go, for me or for the children. One of my favourite museums.
I visited here as a holder of a York Museums Trust Card (10 p.a.) but I am not sure how much is normally costs. Not only is there a number of exhibits inside but there is work ongoing to develop the outside which merges into Museum Gardens and the Abbey Ruins. When I visited there was a Quentin Blake exhibition which was quite interesting. There is also a relatively permanent ceramics exhibition.
What an amazing experience this museum was. I can only usually stay at a museum for 1 hour max. I stayed over 4 hours. It is worth a visit and all of the staff were very open to discussing the life of people in historic times. It was very good on its sociology aspect and hats off to the curator.
Art installations really got me thinking about art and the Moon Geese exhibit, well, I'll leave you told make your own mind up. More traditional ceramic and paintings upstairs to give you a flavour of everything, with an added bonus of the gardens. Great place to appreciate art in all its forms.
