An absolute gem of a shop with helpful staff. Looking for a psychology book was a pleasure as the girl knew her stuff and led me to the book I wanted. Thank you I will be back

Went in here for 1st time today. Wow!! Its like entering another world. Fantastic, old fashioned 2nd hand bookstore, like travelling back in time. Polished wood and fascinating books on every surface. Only had time for a brief visit, cant wait to go back!
I stumbled across this quirky, warm bookstore by chance whilst visiting York a few weeks ago! I have been travelling around Europe for months and was enchanted by your shop. The warm fire, the vast amount of incredible books and the patience and knowledge of the staff, one of the female staff members was so patient with my questions and helpful that I ended up staying in the shop for hours, wish there were mores shops like Ken Spelmans where I live, keep up the good job and more importantly keep up the wonderful staff.
I love this bookshop. Could spend hours in it. Whenever Im in York its one of my first port of calls. Staff are excellent especially the wonderful and eccentric manageress - knowledgeable, warm and always willing to go that extra mile and indulge in some literary chat to help a book lover. Highly recommended.
